Sensory wellness has become an evolutionary step in understanding the function of all the nervous systems. This book offers novel ways of considering sensory integration processing, from structures that serve neurological behaviors to the under-appreciated anatomy of fascia as a sensory organ. Bodywork for Sensory Integration has become a valuable resource for all who wish to gain access and inclusion in neurological wellness and acceptance for neurodiversity.

Analyzing behaviors of sensory difficulties, regardless of one’s profession, has yet to consider the patent integrity or receptor field for each sensory organ.

Existing theories come from a vantage point of central control within the brain. Sensory-behavioral approaches to treatment assumes that the cellular anatomy and sensory nerve pathway is healthy and intact. Behavioral analysis has yet to routinely incorporate manual palpation for tone or tension of sensory structures. Novel ideas found in this book give us ways to treat the autonomic nervous system directly at the organ level, promising efficient and effective ways to help children with regulation and modulation difficulties.

Manual methods are fresh concepts when considering the needs of people with diagnoses of autism, attention deficit disorder, sensory defensiveness, and other neurobehavioral issues. Neurodiversity has an expanded voice with the insights in this book. Two decades of clinical observations of this new paradigm aim to bridge a knowledge gap learned through applying bodywork to people with sensory processing challenges
